What is cellulite? Cellulite is a kind of fat tissue in the subcutaneous layer of the skin. It is a fatty deposit that causes a dimpled or uneven appearance, especially around the thighs and buttocks. Laced with fat cells, cellulite is surrounded by a liquid that both nourishes it and removes cellular waste products. When all is well, the resulting curves are attractive: but as we age things don't work quite as smoothly resulting in the rippled appearance of cellulite. To test for cellulite, lightly pinch an area of tissue between your thumb and finger. If it just normal fat, it will appear fairly smooth; if it is cellulite -- those dreaded dimples or ripples will appear. All is not lost, however, because cellulite can be controlled. There are skin care products that have been specially formulated to aid in the reduction of cellulite. They, too, stimulate circulation along with a reduction in water retention. Using these products will lead to positive results that can be maintained with the right diet and regular exercise.
